Finnchain Oy is a Finnish company which manufactures and installs chain scrapers with multiple blades that scrape the sludge from the bottom and skim all floating matter from the surface of rectangular and circular settling tanks all over the world for over 30 years.
The scraper consists of a drive system with e-motor and gearbox which transmits the rotation by a drive chain to a sprocket that turns the primary shaft. The primary shaft spans the whole width of the tank inlet and has secondary sprockets which move the chains that carry the scraper blades. The scraper chains travel onto the internal side of each side wall of the tank around three more free rotating sprockets installed on secondary shafts. There is a drive chain tensioning and a sprocket alignment system as well as a mechanical torque overload safety cut out feature.
Finnchain also offers a patent system to collect and remove the floating matter from the tank surface consisted of a collection pipe made of stainless steel and operation based on the continuous natural waterflow in the tank. The system operates without motor or electricity.
The construction materials of the scraper are non-metallic, made of composite modern technology materials with high mechanical strength, without deformation and without corrosion.
The primary and secondary shafts are made of stainless steel.
The drive sprockets are made of AISI 304 and the idler wheels of Nyrim.
The chains are made of polyacetal (PA).
The scraping blades are made of GRP reinforced in 60-70 % with fiberglass forming a section 71-120 x 190-310 mm which has been designed specifically to minimize deflection.
The blades have easily replaceable Nylon wear shoes to slide on PP strips fixed on the tank floor as well as onto AISI 304 strips on top which are fixed on the side walls at the tank water surface level.
